About Vanlife Kitchen
Vanlife Kitchen is a practical, no-fluff resource for anyone who wants to eat real, satisfying food while living or traveling on the road. This site exists because van cooking deserves better than vague tips and gear lists that assume you have a full house kitchen nearby.
Every article here is built around one core idea: cooking in a van isn’t about making do with less — it’s about cooking smarter, spending wiser, and eating better than most people expect.
Who’s Behind This Site
Hi, I’m Mark Bonito — van life kitchen blogger and the voice behind Vanlife Kitchen.
Over two years ago, I traded a conventional kitchen for life on wheels. What started as a practical experiment turned into something I didn’t anticipate: a deep appreciation for intentional cooking. When your kitchen is the size of a countertop and your fridge holds 45 liters, every decision matters. And those decisions, made well, lead to some of the most satisfying meals I’ve ever cooked.
I write from lived experience — not theory. I’ve burned through propane on cold nights, watched produce go bad faster than expected, and figured out how to pull together a proper dinner on a single burner at a highway rest stop. That trial and error is exactly what this site is built on.

What You’ll Find Here
Vanlife Kitchen covers the full picture of mobile cooking:
Budget Hacks — how to cut food costs by hundreds of dollars a month without eating worse
Meal Planning — real systems for planning overlapping ingredients, reducing waste, and cooking without a large freezer
Gear Reviews — honest takes on what’s actually worth the space and money in a compact van kitchen
Road-Tested Recipes — meals designed for one burner, limited storage, and real hunger
Whether you’re building your first van kitchen setup or looking to tighten your existing system, the goal here is always the same: practical, actionable advice that works in the real world.
Why This Site Exists
Most van life content glosses over the kitchen. You’ll find plenty of beautiful build photos and vague encouragement, but very little on the actual mechanics of cooking well in a small space on a real budget.
I started Vanlife Kitchen because I needed that resource and it didn’t exist in the way I wanted. Now it does.
If you’re on the road — or planning to be — and you want to eat well without burning through your budget, you’re in the right place.
